THE WEBSITE

Frequent users will have noticed the new look to the website. This has been achieved in no small part to Matt Wilson, who has been helping me. Matt has devised the new layout and yours truly has inputted the data. Over the coming months Matt and I intend to make further improvements to its look and ease of use. Matt will also be a webmaster which will help to take the load off me whilst I undergo further chemo therapy. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Matt for all his help, it is most appreciated.

CLUB NEWS
Our Div3 side please read the following statement issued on the SCSL website
Dear Colleagues,
R.I.Spartans F C :-
Following negotiations with R I Spartans F C it has been mutually agreed that R I Spartans F C withdraw from our Competition.Under active consideration by the Management Committee it would appear that the most convenient way to move forward following this withdrawal is to combine division 2 and 3 into one division. Results to date will stand in the new division’s league table, with only the results in the two games involving R I Spartans deleted from the table.Fixtures for the remainder of September will remain unaltered apart from one. The League Secretary will advise those clubs affected in the next few days. October's fixtures will need slight alterations. These again will be made in the next few days.

A very warm welcome from all at the club, who wish you a successful 2007/2008 season.

PRESS RELEASE 1: Stone’s oldest football club, of 45 years, Stone Old Alleynians FC, are appealing to all ex-Alleynians, both pupils and players, to come forward in their quest to help develop their community football club. After holding recent, positive negotiations, the club are hoping to acquire both their own private ground and forge a link with a well-established charter standard junior football club in Stone imminently, in order to provide a continuous development for younger players in the area from the age of five upwards.Club representative and team manager Richard Jones said, “Negotiations are at an early stage with various parties, but early indications are extremely positive and exciting. The development would be welcomed by the vast majority of sports fans in Stone and we therefore need volunteers, who wish to get involved in what would surely become a club to represent the whole community, and most importantly it would be based in Stone. To further strengthen this point, our site and business plan has included several children’s pitches and facilities for local schools to use as well.”

“Therefore, we are looking for people with professional skills, maybe from a business or financial background in order to help generate club funds. If we are successful in acquiring our own ground, we will be responsible for some of its development and all of its maintenance. In addition, we will be eligible to apply for sports grants, which can be a time consuming process. Anyone who would like to, or who has experience of applying for sports grants and could dedicate some of their time would be a welcome addition to the committee and we would like to hear from you. This would be the key factor in determining the quality of facilities provided.”

“For many years, football fans in Stone have complained about the lack of facilities in the town. Now is their chance to back up their opinions and get involved. Virtually everyone in Stone has attended Alleynes High School and our football club continues that link.”
